Overview
This IGCSE Mathematics Summer Course is designed for students preparing for Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics or Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics who want to strengthen their foundation before the new academic year.
The course focuses on key syllabus topics, common exam question types, and step-by-step problem-solving techniques. Students will review important concepts, practise topic-based past paper questions, and learn how to avoid common mistakes in exam-style questions.
Each lesson is taught in a small group setting, allowing students to receive clearer guidance, ask questions, and build confidence before school starts again.
Core Topics Covered
Number & Algebra
Students will review essential algebra skills including indices, surds, factorisation, expanding brackets, solving equations, simultaneous equations, inequalities, sequences, and algebraic fractions. The course will focus on building fluency so students can handle longer exam questions more confidently.
Graphs & Functions
Students will learn how to interpret and sketch linear, quadratic, cubic, reciprocal, and exponential graphs. The course will also cover transformations of graphs, gradients, intercepts, and solving equations using graphical methods.
Geometry & Mensuration
The course will cover angle rules, polygons, circle theorems, bearings, constructions, similarity, congruence, area, volume, surface area, arcs, sectors, and 3D shapes. Students will practise applying formulas clearly and avoiding careless errors in multi-step questions.
Trigonometry & Pythagoras
Students will strengthen their understanding of right-angled trigonometry, sine rule, cosine rule, area of triangle formula, 3D trigonometry, and exact trigonometric values where applicable. Emphasis will be placed on choosing the correct method for each question.
Statistics & Probability
Students will revise averages, cumulative frequency, box plots, histograms, scatter graphs, probability trees, Venn diagrams, and combined probability. The course will help students interpret data accurately and present working clearly.
Exam-Style Problem Solving
Students will practise topic-based past paper questions from Edexcel and Cambridge-style papers. The focus is not only on getting the answer, but also understanding the structure of the question, writing clear working, and improving exam technique.
